AAT complete acquisition and relocation of Ship to Shore (STS) crane

After almost 12 months of planning, AAT Fisherman Island, Brisbane, recently acquired a ship-to-shore (STS) crane from DP World Brisbane and relocated the crane to the AAT terminal.

Moving the 810-tonne STS rail-mounted crane was a significant logistical project involving self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) with two x 24 axle lines to lift the crane (only a few inches off the rail) and carry it along the quay line to the new location within the AAT facility.

The crane is now undergoing commissioning and is expected to be available for operation in mid to late September 2021. The crane has a capacity to lift 40 tonnes (single lift) under spreader and 55 tonnes under the heavy-lift beam. AAT has also purchased a new twin lift container spreader for the crane which is expected to be delivered in January 2022.

The addition of this crane to the existing AAT fleet at Fisherman Island will provide a significant benefit to AAT’s valued customers and the shipping industry.
